The 8 P.M. Diktat

For many of us, the shiny millennium city is home-sweet-home. Amidst elegant glass designs that dance with sun's rays, high-rise apartments that caress the sky, softly-tinted buildings that wink comyly at the moonlight, we are all enamored by the sheer grace of it all. Yes, Gurgaon is more than ahead of our times - We love its bustling energy, we crave its whims and fancies, hypnotically dance to its corporate flute..

But when it comes to minds, we take a complete U-Turn. Aha, our flashy glass doors are tinted. One sneak peak behind them, and the farce of this progressive infrastructure comes shattering down in shards, blood sputters around shamelessly - helpless, conspicuous, and in pain.

With the dubious distinction of witnessing one rape a day everyday in 2011, crime here in the sin-city is just about as commonplace as the malls on MG Road. If a lousy, inactive police force isn't infuriating enough, we now have a new 8PM diktat.

The Gurgaon administration has told all malls, commercial establishments and pub-owners that they cannot have women employees working beyond 8PM.

This new rule has raised much outcry in social groups and media circles. But what really is the solution? How do we ensure freedom with responsibility? How can we make Gurgaon a safer place to live?

For one, we need to wake up.

Please take 5 minutes to fill up this short survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CM3DG2F).

Each one of can make a difference and our thoughts together, make all the difference.
We are the voice.
